SCOPE
- This IPCS has been developed to assist in meeting the minimum requirements for qualification and certification of personnel seeking for Welder certification in accordance with ASME IX 2025 Edition and AWS D1.1 2025 Edition.
- Certification confirms a welder’s general competence, but employers remain responsible for the welder’s work performance.
- Certain standards or contracts may require approval from owners or engineers before using certified welders without requalification.
- Employers may accept IPCS certification directly or add extra requirements as needed for specific projects.
- Employers must be fully aware of certification details and the qualification limits stated on the IPCS Welder identification/qualification limits card.
- Employers should verify the welder’s prior work history or confirm that the qualifications are applicable to their work scope.
- The range of welder qualifications covered by IPCS follows the applicable codes, standards, and specifications referenced.
